Welcome to UNESCO

Hi VIP’s!!! Welcome to this year’s UNESCO blog. My name is Habiiba Malingha and I am delighted to be one of your Dias this year. I am a sophomore and an Economics Major. I am especially excited for this year’s topics because all my life I have been asking about the value of education, access to education, quality of education, education providers and the forms of education that are appropriate for various populations. I also come from Uganda, a sub- Saharan African country, a region that suffers the most from food insecurity. And luckily, this year we are looking at barriers to education as well as issues in agricultural sustainability and food security - two very interlinked topics in my opinion. Feel free to ask for my perspective on both topics. I look forward to working with y’all!!!

Welcome to UNESCO

Hey delegates! My name is Annalise Fox and I am so excited to be one of your vice chairs for BMUN 66. I am currently a freshman at Berkeley majoring in Global Peace and Conflict with a concentration on the Middle East. Outside of school, I love reading, hiking, movies, and watching ice hockey. I did MUN all throughout high school even attending BMUN last year as a delegate. I absolutely love the different insights and perspectives which MUN can give you on such interesting issues! It has really opened my eyes to numerous troubles the world faces, many of which I was not aware of before attending conferences. I truly hope with these topics our committee can impact you in the same way it has impacted me!

Welcome to UNESCO!

Hi everyone! My name is Henry Dong, and I'm going to be your head chair this year for UNESCO. I'm super stoked to meet you all in March, but I'll take a quick moment to introduce myself. I'm currently a junior here at Berkeley, but I'm originally from Irvine, which is located in Orange County in Southern California. At Berkeley, I'm studying Molecular and Cell Biology and Cognitive Science, and my overall interests include healthcare, education, and technology. Outside of classes, I love swimming, rock-climbing, listening to music, and watching Hulu/Netflix. I also enjoy playing basketball, and can occasionally get carried away watching it. Personally, I found MUN to be one of my most formative high school experiences, and I joined BMUN because I was looking for a similar kind of community. I'm really excited to hear all the ideas that you're going to bring to BMUN LXVI, and I look forward to getting to know you all!

Welcome to UNESCO!

Hello! My name is Octavio and I am one of your vice-chairs for BMUN LXVI. I am currently a 4th year student at Berkeley studying Economics. I am originally from Mexico but I now live in the Fresno, California. I enjoy learning about other cultures and traveling. I am currently learning French and I hope to travel to France soon. I also enjoy watching TV, listening to music, and hiking. I am really passionate about MUN because I think it is a great tool to bring awareness about important political issues to high-schoolers all around the world. I am really excited to be a vice-chair of UNESCO during my last year in BMUN because the other chairs in our committee are amazing people and our topics are very interesting and important. I can't wait to meet everyone during conference and feel free to reach out with any questions about the committee!
